The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley
I don’t usually read mystery novels, but The Paris apartment was recommended to me by both my wife and her sister, as part of our semi-official book club, so I decided to give it a go.
It’s a page turner that’s very difficult to put down, and kept me guessing right to the very end.
The story is told from multiple viewpoints, and follows a woman’s search for her missing brother - a journalist - from the titular Paris apartment. The viewpoints are hers and those of the building’s other residents.
Reliable information is strictly rationed by the author, and with each new revelation, my guesses as to what was actually going on, and the central mystery, changed.
I’d like to be able to say that I guessed the ending correctly, but that wouldn’t be true. I did get the central secret that everyone was hiding, and a few other bits and pieces, but the plot twists were incredible.
