Oxford Soju Club by Jinwoo Park

Spy novels aren’t my usual bag baby, but I enjoyed Oxford Soju club immensely.
Most of the story is told through a series of flashbacks; Park begins with a murder, and we see the events that lead up to it over a period of decades and through the eyes of the protagonists - and the victim himself.
There are North Korean spies, American spies, and an orphaned South Korean chef, who is wandering the world and just wants to run a Korean eatery in Oxford.
For an action-packed spy caper, Oxford Soju Club is a surprisingly gentle, easy read.
100% would read again on a beach holiday.
